You either love it or you don’t! It can either cause a maddening eye migraine, or not!
I began snooping around this globally admired fashion staple known as “houndstooth” and its checkered history. As with tartan, this dark and light delicately woven threaded pattern originated as a wool cloth of the Scottish Lowlands. The traditional colors could be found in the classic black and white pattern and later took a color turn adding a bit of interest. This pattern dates back to 1885 and was perhaps either a cousin of tartan or just often seen chumming around with tartan plaids and gun club checks.
Houndstooth allows you to invite a bit of vintage and mix with your more traditional or contemporary pieces and meets the space with timeless charm.
So, cheers to the close friend of tartan and all its wonder…..a few additional accessories for you to “check” out.
And, if you have a sweet tooth for houndstooth….
If you are a chef or enjoy the culinary gifts of one, you may recognize the houndstooth they wear to conceal the love in the kitchen.
